The Moss Hill Methodist Church is located a short drive north of Panama City in Vernon, FL (Washington County). It doesn’t have electricity, just as it was when it was built in 1857. There are still services at the church too, but even if you aren’t there for religious purposes it is worth the drive. There is so much history, from thinking about the slaves who were forced to work building it, to the fact that it is home to a number of Confederate graves. One of the most striking features of this unique place is that the wood actually captured the hand prints of those slaves who made it in its resin. We recommend you take a nice weekend day and go up while you are here in short term rentals in Panama City.
